If you’ve been struggling to articulate concerns over Digital ID and the direction in which you see things heading - especially with partners, family or business associates - you’re not alone.
This topic is creating tension everywhere and people are reacting from very human places.
During COVID, we saw how easily differences in values or thinking can strain relationships.
Today, Digital ID and the centralisation of data are triggering the same emotional splits. So I wanted to offer some words to help approach these conversations and break down the crux of the problems you may be sensing.
Why Digital ID Creates So Much Conflict
At its core, the debate isn’t about government or left vs right wing politics. It’s not even really about technology security.
It’s about it’s about control, trust, and vulnerability. Whatever you think of Keir Starmer, Tony Blair or anyone else, the issue doesn’t start or stop with them. It’s about understanding the key concepts of centralisation and how data works.
We know Centralised Digital ID links everything: identity, finance, health, business, travel, education and behaviour - all accessed through a single digital gateway.
Most of us understand centralised systems like that gives enormous power and influence to whoever controls them. You don’t need to be negative to see the risk.
You just need to know how data behaves - to understand its permanence and the vulnerability it creates from the moment it’s all connected.
It’s not necessarily about what one government will or won’t do; it’s about the fact that any future government or person of influence/control will have access to those levers forever.
Once the infrastructure is completed, there’s no going back.
Why Some People “Can’t Go There” Yet
It’s easy to assume people only see convenience. But for many, it’s deeper than that.
A lot of people are too scared to look beyond what’s being put in front of them. That’s because seeing the bigger picture means acknowledging that:
the systems they rely on aren’t as safe as they believed
their sense of security and familiarity may be built on something fragile and misleading
and centralisation could lead to a state of collective control never experienced where we live, at least not within our lifetime
It’s a hard truth for anyone to sit with, especially when there doesn’t appear to be a better alternative.
And admitting it would mean challenging everything they’ve known - financially, medically, socially, emotionally. So while it may be frustrating and look like ignorance, it’s actually self-protection.
When you understand that, you can approach the conversation with more compassion and less frustration.
For Those of Us Who CAN See it…
It’s not because we’re pessimistic or paranoid - it’s because we understand how data really works, how systems evolve when information becomes centralised, and what that means for personal autonomy.
We’ve taken the time to look past the surface and connect the dots that many people aren’t ready to face.
That’s why I’ve put together a video that breaks down the reality of Digital ID, what’s happening behind the scenes with the data infrastructure and the difference between Digital ID and the government’s One Login system.
I also focus on what decentralisation truly offers in contrast. I explain why we’re building on the blockchain, what crypto and blockchain were actually designed for, and I tackle the most common fears and misconceptions - so you can understand the purpose, the protection, and the power behind it.
It covers a lot and should help offer reassurance to anyone who watches it, as opposed to just fearmongering without solutions or hope.
Things Are About to Start Gearing Up for Kinect U
We’ve been quietly building the early infrastructure behind the scenes with our developers. The first stages of getting something with such mission and power off the ground are always an uphill slog. We really want to get this right.
But now we’re gearing up to start making this mission become a reality for everyone. In coming weeks we’ll be offering more resources - such as education and information packs - and providing opportunities to give your feedback, talk about your needs and help make sure we shape this for the people in our community.
I hope the newsletter and my most recent YouTube video help you gain some clarity over what you’re feeling and how you’re able to communicate with family & associates.
